At Students First Educational Tutoring and Coaching, Ann works with individual students from grade 5 onwards, who have a diagnosed learning disability and often AD/HD as well. The assistance given by Ann focuses on the process of learning across subject disciplines. She strives to be proactive and prepare her students for future school and life challenges.
Having years of experience as a public school special education teacher, Ann is well versed in current curriculum and teaching methodology. Her Masters Degree in Educational Psychology allows her to quickly and accurately assess and identify the underlying source of academic problems, spotting where a child’s knowledge and understanding might be shaky or weak, and takes immediate steps to correct these issues. With her experiences she perceptively identifies poor or faulty learning strategies and replaces them with proven effective techniques for mastering school work and homework. She is able to present information and ideas in clear and simple language that are easy for students to absorb and retain. Her emphasis is to build upon her student’s strengths and interests to increase their self confidence and belief in their own ability to succeed. Embedded in all that she does is the teaching of organization, planning and study skills to help your child stay on track and begin to excel at school.
When might your child benefit from Ann’s assistance?
You may want to consider tutoring support:
- If your child has a diagnosed learning disability and the school can not provide enough support to ensure their success.
- your child displays a lack of interest and is having difficulty in language based subjects
- your child’s grades are declining
- you can’t help because of your child’s attitude or because you don’t understand the curriculum expectations
